Prime Minister Sali Berisha signed today the decision, “On approval of the final report about consideration of bids and announcement of the winner of the bidding process for privatization of the state-owned Albpetrol oil company, based in Patos, and declaring the U.S. - and Singapore-based Vetro Energy consortium winner of the tender procedure.
This decision consists a very important development in the further deepening of the economic reforms by this government which has privatization the main definition of its economic policies. Albania is the country of major privatizations and it actually is in possession of the biggest oil field in Europe. Therefore, the most efficient management of the existing resources in the field of hydrocarbon and exploration of new resources is in the best interest of the country. The privatization in question intends first of all and above all the increase of the country’s exploration efficiency through giving concession as a private company.
Throughout the process, the government has the most efficient exploitation of the country potentials its major goal as it is in the best interest of the Albanian citizens, so that the country’s dormant wealth gets transformed into monetary value and employment opportunities for the Albanian citizens.
